I have recently moved to Shrewsbury, having visited many times over the years and fallen in love with the area. It has certainly lived up to expectations, and I am thoroughly enjoying life in this beautiful town – made even better by joining CBSL.
Before relocating to Shrewsbury, I lived in Derbyshire for 20 years, and prior to that in Bicester, Birmingham, Kent and London. Over the years, I moved frequently to support my husband’s career before his retirement. In the early 2000s, we also spent three wonderful years living in Miami, Florida, where our daughter was born.
Originally, I am from Ireland and grew up in County Kildare, where my parents still live. I travel back regularly to visit family and friends. Ireland holds a very special place in my heart.
Professionally, I completed a Business Studies course, which provided me with a strong understanding of the day-to-day running of a business. I also learned touch typing and shorthand to further support my career, and at the age of 20 began working as a Personal Assistant to a Managing Director. I found the role so rewarding that I became a career EA/PA and have never looked back.
My career has spanned a wide range of industries, including advertising, publishing, childcare, DIY product manufacturing and, most recently, accountancy. I firmly believe that the skills required to support a busy Managing Director are highly transferable, which has allowed me to enjoy a varied and fulfilling career.
Outside of work – when not renovating my house – I enjoy walking and cycling. My true passion, however, is reading. I am an avid reader and devour books whenever I can find the time, with historical fiction being my favourite genre. While I have embraced e-books, my heart still belongs to traditional books. I freely admit that I am incapable of walking past a bookshop without going in—a fact that has become a long-running family joke.
