for you and your business

Russell Kershaw

I joined CBSL accountants in April 2017.  My main reason behind joining CBSL was the opportunity to further my career in both a challenging and rewarding environment.  I felt I shared the vision of CBSL with both Adrian and Louise.  I can envision my future at CBSL for a long time due to the working culture and the family values that are engrained into the company.

I started working in accountancy straight from college as I wanted to gain practical working experience as soon as I could.  I worked my way up from a junior to manager in the period I was there.  It gave me the chance to gain experience in all aspects of accountancy.  I took the chance to gain a good grounding and base knowledge in accounts, audit and tax.  I also met my wife at this firm. Whilst gaining my practical experience I attained my AAT qualification and then went on further to gain my ACCA qualification.

I then moved on to work in a small practice on the outside of Wolverhampton which helped develop my skills in dealing with smaller entities before I joined CBSL.

I enjoy the accountancy profession as it gives me the chance to interact with a large spectrum of clients in various industries, dealing with all their accountancy needs.  I feel it’s imperative to build a good strong working relationship as early as possible with clients to offer the highest level of service tailored to their business.

I have a real enthusiasm for cycling as it gives me a chance to be outside in the fresh air and gives me a sense a freedom away from work and the office.  I try to ride at least three of four times a week as it’s an important aspect of my life to keep active.  I’m also an avid Aston Villa fan as my great grandad used to play for them and I try and go to the matches whenever the chance arises.

In 2014 my wife and I moved to Albrighton to enjoy the village lifestyle.  We enjoy being part of the local community and supporting the local businesses (especially the pubs).  We both enjoy travelling, mainly to major cities, to enjoy different food and cultures.
